Research Aims and Achievements

Pirogov Medical University is a leading Russian medical and biomedical research and innovation center. Our scientific activity is aimed primarily at practical health care and at the same time at obtaining new knowledge about the mechanisms of human diseases.

We actively cooperate with scientific institutes of Russian Academy of Science, as well as research and clinical centers, and biotechnological and pharmaceutical companies around the world.

Main areas of research includes oncology, neurobiology, allergies and immunology, medical genetics, regenerative medicine, medical microbiology and infectious diseases.

The University takes an active part in conducting clinical and preclinical studies of new drugs, biomedical cell products and medical devices.

We are developing our own scientific journal, which accepts articles on clinical medicine and biomedical sciences. The journal is published in Russian and English and is included in the Scopus and WoS.

We pay great attention to the early involvement of our students in research. The University’s Student Scientific Society unites more than 80 scientific groups working on various topics in the field of therapy, pediatrics, surgery, and biomedicine. Students receive not only additional clinical practice, but learn to observe, conduct research and formulate their results in accordance with accepted practice. Graduates can continue their career in science at the University PhD School.

Scientific and practical conferences organized by the University for reseachers as well as for students and young scientists create a convenient platform for presenting new research and exchange of experience. Meetings with leading scientists of the world, constantly organized by the University, allow them to keep abreast of the latest achievements of biomedicine and medicine.
