From Yakhroma to Konakovo: Pirogov University Cycling Club Holds Its First Ride

The first route is complete. More than 20 students, faculty members, and friends of Pirogov University took part in the debut ride of the new Cycling Club, completing the “VELO-1” route from Yakhroma to Konakovo together.

Cyclists of different experience levels joined the ride, from those just getting started in cycling to seasoned riders. That is why the program offered two route options: 37 kilometers for recreational cyclists and 95 kilometers for experienced riders.

The Yakhroma–Dubna–Konakovo route became the Cycling Club’s first major challenge together and, at the same time, an opportunity to bring together people around the University’s new sports initiative who are eager to train, explore new routes, and spend time with like-minded people.

The finish line was at the Konakovo Educational, Sports and Recreation Complex, where the Everest Student Sports Club is currently holding its training camp. After completing the route, the cyclists joined the camp participants for dinner, followed by a panel discussion.

The first ride was the result of a joint effort by the Pirogov University Sports Club and the Lopukhin Institute of Anatomy and Morphology. The new initiative continues to strengthen the University’s sports community and provides another opportunity for students, staff, and everyone who wants to become part of university sports life to train and spend time together.

New routes, training sessions, and group rides are already ahead for the Cycling Club.
