Sergey Anatolyevich Lukyanov was re-elected to the post of rector of Pirogov University

Pirogov University hosted a conference of research and teaching staff, representatives of other categories of employees and students on the election of the rector – one of the most important events in the life of the University. As a result of the work of the credentials committee, 283 delegates were registered at the conference, and the quorum was ensured. The conference was chaired by Gennady Poryadin, Advisor to the Rector.

Rector of Pirogov University Sergey Lukyanov presented a development program based on a harmonious combination of three complementary areas: education, science and clinical practice:

"Pirogov University has historically been and remains a center for the creation of the latest treatment technologies and a place where the development strategy of domestic and world medicine was determined. All the demands that the country and time place on us today are fully consistent with our historical mission. Over the past five years, the University has consistently demonstrated a steady and significant increase in the number of students and educational programs, which is reflected not only in quantitative indicators, but also in quality improvement."

Sergey Lukyanov said that this year Pirogov University took the first place in terms of the quality of education among medical universities in Russia, and the tenth in the overall ranking of the country. In addition, the University has ensured a steady increase in the number of students and an expansion of the range of educational programs, including in genetics, cellular technologies and fundamental medicine.

He also highlighted the fact that Pirogov University is one of the key participants in the pilot project to improve the higher education system. Among other achievements, Sergey Lukyanov noted the entry of Pirogov University into the list of leaders of the Priority 2030 program, as well as the development of three key strategic technological projects: Gene Therapy, Neurotrophy and Immunomedicine.

Concluding his speech, Sergey Lukyanov noted that Pirogov University should become a center for the creation of advanced technologies — and at the same time train specialists capable of applying these technologies.

Olga Milushkina, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Pirogov University, dedicated her speech to the program for the modernization of higher medical education:

"Pirogov University is the flagship of biomedical education and technological leadership. The key principle is to create a continuous cycle, and this is impossible without students and teachers. These are two important pillars of the University that we would like to further develop and support."

Olga Milushkina noted the high increase in students, the retention of the best applicants, the motivation of students to self-study and the support of their research activities.

Dmitry Shagin, Vice-Rector for Innovation at Pirogov University, presented a program dedicated to the development of innovation, science and clinical practice:

"In recent years, Pirogov University has achieved notable success in a number of areas. These results were made possible thanks to our joint work and the personal contribution of everyone to the development of the University."

Among the key results and priorities, Dmitry Shagin noted the creation of a flexible interdisciplinary educational ecosystem where learning is closely linked to science and innovation, and each student receives an individual trajectory. In his report, he commented on the importance of the Pirogov University clinical bases, which are a key resource of the scientific and educational environment.

Following a secret ballot, the conference delegates overwhelmingly re-elected Sergey Lukyanov to the post of rector of Pirogov University for a new five-year term.

"Dear colleagues, many thanks for your support and trust. Being in such a position is a huge responsibility, and I see this result as an achievement for the whole team. I see only a bright future ahead for Pirogov University," emphasized Sergey Lukyanov.

Congratulations to Sergey Lukyanov on his re-election and wish the entire Pirogov University team new achievements in science, education and clinical practice for the benefit of national healthcare!
