Modern approaches in ophthalmic surgery: the jubilee EAKO was held in Yekaterinburg

Yekaterinburg hosted the X anniversary Euro-Asian Conference on Ophthalmic Surgery (EAKO) "Controversial issues of modern ophthalmic surgery", one of the authoritative professional platforms uniting specialists in the field of ophthalmology.

The Vice-rector for Medical Work, Director of the Scientific Research Center of Ophthalmology of Pirogov University, as well as the creator and organizer of the first EAKO Hristo Takhchidi delivered a welcoming speech. At the opening, the professor addressed the participants and recalled how the first conference was born in Yekaterinburg in 1998, which later became an important catalyst for the development and one of the most significant international platforms in Russian ophthalmology.

As part of the scientific program, Hristo Takhchidi presented the report "The importance of choosing the place of fixation of the IOL to the iris for the complete preservation of its functions." It was about a new system of technologies that make it possible to perform implantation, fixation and centering of an artificial lens as atraumatically as possible and with minimal risk of complications for the patient. This approach helps to achieve effective treatment and at the same time preserve the function of the iris and pupil.

The participation of Pirogov University in the jubilee EAKO was another confirmation of the University's high expert level and its contribution to the development of professional dialogue in ophthalmic surgery.
