Rector of Pirogov University Sergey Lukyanov spoke about the current state of affairs at the University. Sergey informed about the certification procedure for candidates for the position of rector at the Russian Ministry of Health, and also announced the traditional acceptance speech (to be held on April 27) by Evgeny Nasonov, a leading Russian specialist in the field of rheumatology, scientific director of the V.A. Nasonova Research Institute of Rheumatology.
During the meeting of the Academic Council, Yegor Prokhorchuk, Director of the Institute of Biomedicine (MBF), presented the report "The experience of the MBF in synthesizing basic Science and medical education," in which he summarized the Institute's development in recent years and outlined its future plans.
The report focuses on the idea of synthesizing two seemingly different worlds: fundamental science and practice-oriented medical education. Combining these approaches creates a unique intellectual and educational environment for the legendary Institute of Biomedicine (MBF).
Special attention was paid to the modernization of educational standards: strengthening fundamental training, expanding practice-oriented forms and developing interdisciplinary cooperation. A significant step was the introduction of interdepartmental practices, which provide students with the opportunity to make informed professional choices, as well as the creation of new laboratory and clinical bases.
Today, the Institute of Biomedicine (MBF) trains a new type of specialist — doctors with a research mindset and able to work at the intersection of science and clinical practice.
According to Yegor Prokhorchuk, the educational process should go beyond the linear learning model and involve the early inclusion of students in the research and professional environment. This is confirmed by the first graduation of students who studied according to the new standards ("3 + 2 + 1"), a significant part of which turned out to be integrated into scientific and medical teams in advance.
Along with the achieved results, the strategic objectives of the Institute were also outlined: the need to form a sustainable development model, the search for a balance between scientific and educational missions, as well as rethinking the role of universities in the modern system of scientific production.
At the end of the meeting, the members of the Academic Council voted for structural changes, approval of regulations, submission to state awards and awarding academic titles.
