Problems of treatment of comorbid patients discussed at Pirogov University

VIII Annual Interuniversity scientific and practical conference of young scientists "Internal diseases at the pre-hospital stage. Difficult Patient" brought together students, residents and young scientists to comprehensively discuss clinical cases that are difficult to treat on an outpatient basis.

In his opening remarks, Sergey Lukyanov, Rector of Pirogov University, emphasized that comorbidity is one of the most important topics in modern medicine.

"In modern clinical practice, doctors are increasingly faced with complex cases when a patient has several diseases at the same time, the so—called comorbidity. This is no longer an exception, but rather the rule, and it is these patients who create the main burden on the healthcare system," said Sergey Lukyanov.

Vera Larina, Head of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, stressed that the fate of the patient directly depends on the speed and quality of the decisions of the primary care physician.

Marina Khoreva, Director of the Department of Training Highly Qualified Personnel, noted that in the context of the emergence of fundamentally new technologies for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases, conferences play a key role by combining the knowledge and experience of specialists, which enriches the practical activities of each doctor.

The speakers presented informative and carefully prepared reports on the treatment of various complex diseases, from diabetes to epilepsy.
