International quality control has confirmed the high level of HLA typing at Pirogov University

Laboratory of Genomics at the Institute of Translational Medicine of Pirogov University received an EFI certificate for high-resolution HLA typing based on the results of external quality control — external proficiency testing (EPT). EFI, the European Federation of Immunogenetics, formulates standards for approaches to interaction, as well as laboratory studies of patients and donors for bone marrow transplantation.

The inspection showed to what extent the technologies, reagents and professional skills of the staff used in the laboratory meet European requirements. To obtain the certificate, the specialists typed 10 samples, and the results were additionally checked in the laboratory of the Medical University in Vienna.

According to the results of the study, a complete match with the expected genotype was recorded. Thus, the genomics laboratory has confirmed its high level not only in internal verification, but also in the framework of international quality assessment.

This result is especially important for the HLA typing department of the Genomics Laboratory, which performs research for the Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Obtaining an EFI certificate is not only a recognition of the professional level of the team, but also an additional confirmation of the reliability of research, which determines the accuracy of donor selection and the quality of preparation for transplantation.
