A meeting of the Coordinating Council on Educational Policy was held at Pirogov University

During the meeting, Olga Milushkina, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Pirogov University, spoke about key changes related to the University's participation in a pilot project to improve higher education, as well as the transformation of the medical personnel training system and the revision of educational programs.

A working group was established to discuss the list of specialties in the field of education "Healthcare and medical sciences". The tasks of the working group include: the analysis of existing specialties, the identification of areas that can be abandoned, the formation of a list of new specialties and the development of the structure of the fundamental educational core.

"Leading universities will be able to create educational programs for specific jobs, and this opens up quite wide prospects for Pirogov University," Olga Milushkina noted.

A separate section of the meeting was devoted to changes in the residency system. Olga Prirodova, Vice-Rector for Postgraduate and Continuing Education at Pirogov University, presented the concept of a phased, or modular, residency, which is being developed by the University as part of a pilot project. At the same time, the introduction of the pilot model does not mean a complete transition of all students to the new system. The project involves working with only a small group of participants, while the rest of the residents will continue their training under existing programs.

Olga Prirodova stressed that the implementation of the project will become possible only after the official release of the relevant resolution on April 22.

The members of the Coordinating Council agreed that the inclusion of Pirogov University in the pilot project opens up new opportunities for the formation of a modern model of medical education.
