The legacy of a great pediatrician: "Tabolin readings" united generations of students, young scientists and experts

Pirogov University hosted the First All-Russian Scientific and Practical conference "Tabolin Readings", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician Vyacheslav Tabolin, an outstanding scientist whose works laid the foundations of Russian neonatology.

The event brought together students, young scientists and leading experts in the field of pediatrics. The interest in the conference turned out to be enormous: out of 84 submitted abstracts, a rigorous expert commission selected 58 of the best papers for oral and poster presentations.

"Today is a significant day, because we are opening a conference that will bear the name of a great man. I am very glad that our young colleagues are sharing this experience, these traditions and knowledge," Olga Milushkina, Vice—Rector for Academic Affairs at Pirogov University, greeted the participants and guests.

Lydia Ilyenko, Director of the Institute of Motherhood and Childhood (IMD), congratulated everyone on the opening of the conference and stressed that Vyacheslav Tabolin was the best person in everything.

"I am very glad that today we are honoring this great scientist. And I want to encourage the younger generation to read his biography, get acquainted with his memories and, of course, be guided by his teachings and ideas in their lives," Lydia Ilyenko said.

Peter Shumilov, Head of the Department of Hospital Pediatrics named after Academician V.A. Tabolin, noted that the main task of the conference is to preserve the memory and continuity of generations.

The Tabolin Readings were not just a tribute to the past, but also a confident step into the future of Russian pediatrics, where a new generation of doctors and scientists continues the work of their outstanding mentors.
