Alexander Rumyantsev, scientific director of the Institute of Motherhood and Childhood at Pirogov University, was awarded the Demidov Prize, the oldest non—governmental scientific award

At one time, Dmitry Mendeleev (1862) and Nikolai Pirogov (1844, 1851, 1860) were its laureates. After the award was revived in 1993, it was awarded by the Yekaterinburg Public Scientific Demidov Foundation for cumulative contributions to science in one of the fields (geosciences, physics and mathematics, economics and entrepreneurship, humanities). To date, only 114 Russian scientists have received this award.

Now among them is Alexander Rumyantsev, a doctor who has developed advanced methods of treating children with cancer and immune diseases.

"This recognition is not only a personal reward for me, but also an appreciation of the work of the entire team, my teachers and colleagues, with whom we work daily for the development of science and medicine. I am sincerely grateful for the trust and the opportunity to be a part of this great story. Science continues!" — Alexander Rumyantsev commented on the award.

Today, an outstanding scientist celebrates his birthday. On behalf of the entire staff of Pirogov University, congratulations to Alexander Rumyantsev on this holiday and the appreciation of his work.

We wish you good health, inexhaustible strength, new achievements and grateful patients!
