A strategic course on scientific leadership and the development of student circles

Pirogov University hosted a large-scale intensive for the heads of student scientific circles (SNCs). Experts and participants of the intensive course discussed key changes in educational, scientific and youth policy, defining a new, central role of the Council of People's Commissars in training future leaders of medicine.

The event became a platform for dialogue about the global transformation of the University, its participation in the Priority 2030 program and the integration of three key areas: science, education and clinics.

Vladislava Belyakova, Vice—Rector for Youth Policy, opened the intensive course, noting the University's current challenges:

"Pirogov University is the heart of progress, and we are developing science and medicine today in order to train those specialists who will become the future of these fields tomorrow."

Vladislava Belyakova spoke about new approaches in youth policy, including the creation of an institute of curators who will accompany students throughout their studies, helping them form individual educational trajectories and achieve their goals.

Yulia Ilyinova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, stressed that the University has already become a center for breakthrough biomedical technologies, developing three key strategic technological projects: "Gene Therapy", "Neurotrophy" and "Immunomedicine". She noted the special importance of student science in this process.:

"Student scientific circles are a space where students have a real opportunity to immerse themselves in research practice and master scientific activities. When organizing scientific circles, it is very important to remember that the key to success is the integration of medicine, science and technology."

Olga Milushkina, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, reminded her colleagues about the high degree of motivation of students entering Pirogov University and the need to create an interesting and engaging scientific environment for them.:

"As soon as we create conditions in which they will be interested in studying and doing science, then, of course, they will go there too. I definitely want to say that the motivation of modern students is very high."

Elena Maslenkova, Head of the Youth Center for Science and Technology at Pirogov University, presented tools for organizing the leadership system of the Council of People's Commissars:

"The student scientific circle allows students not only to study the discipline in depth, but also to unlock their potential in research and innovation in their chosen field. And today we need a new set of tools to build such a system."

Intensive laid the foundation for the systemic transformation of youth science policy at Pirogov University. The new approaches are designed not only to provide students with research skills, but also to raise a generation of scientifically minded specialists capable of solving the most complex tasks of the future.
