“The internship in Armenia turned out to be an unforgettable and incredibly valuable experience. One of the brightest moments was the difference in approaches to medicine, which gave us a unique opportunity to look at the healthcare system from a different perspective. I visited two hospitals where I had the opportunity to observe coronary angiography and participate in rounds with the superintendent. Each day was filled with new knowledge. At the second hospital, I spent time on an outpatient appointment with a cardiologist who shared his knowledge and experience. I was struck by how aggressively they utilize the latest medications in their practice and that the cardiologists themselves perform cardiac ultrasounds. This was very impressive! This internship not only deepened my medical knowledge, but also left me with many pleasant memories of the people and the country. I can't help but mention the cultural aspects of my stay: the Armenian cuisine surprised me with its variety and flavor, and the excursions gave me a deeper understanding of the rich history and culture of the country. It is also worth mentioning that all the guys I interacted with were fluent in three languages: Armenian, Russian and English, which inspired me to study English,” shared Sergey Galan.
“I really liked the attitude of the doctors at the clinical bases. I was in the intensive care unit at St. Gregory's Hospital and in anesthesiology at Erebuni MC. The doctors and residents never refused to answer honestly questions about their work and studies, they told me about the healthcare system in Armenia. They asked with interest about my work and studies in Moscow. At the very beginning they asked about my skills and allowed me to perform all the manipulations I was interested in on my own. The internship was interesting. It was an invaluable experience and an opportunity to test my strength in working in an unfamiliar team, with unfamiliar equipment and in a system different from the usual Russian healthcare system. It was possible to keep work-life balance and spend time after the working day and on weekends getting acquainted with the culture and sights of the city and its surroundings”, — emphasized Evgenia Nechaeva.
