Scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the founder of the scientific school of pediatric ophthalmologists of Pirogov University Evgeny Sidorenko

The event took place on April 18 and was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Evgeny Sidorenko, an outstanding scientist and teacher, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Institute of Maternity and Childhood of Pirogov University, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Rector of Pirogov University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Lukyanov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Pirogov University, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Olga Milushkina, Director of the Institute of Maternity and Childhood of Pirogov University Professor Lidia Ilyenko, Director of the Research Center of Ophthalmology of Pirogov University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Hristo Takhchidi, as well as General Director of the ISTC “Eye Microsurgery” named after Academician S. N. Fyodorov Dmitry Artyom Fyodorov. Dmitry Arsyutov, Director of the Kaluga branch of S.N. Fedorov Eye Microsurgery, Professor Alexander Tereshchenko, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology of St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, Professor Vladimir Brzeski noted the outstanding contribution of Evgeny Sidorenko to the work of Pirogov University and to the creation of a scientific school of pediatric ophthalmologists.

Acting Head of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Institute of Maternity and Childhood of Pirogov University Dr. Sergey Obrubov, Professor Sergei Obrubov made a report on the scientific school of Evgeny Sidorenko.

The conference was attended by specialists in the field of ophthalmology, students and postgraduates of Pirogov University, as well as representatives of other medical universities of Russia. They presented research, developments and innovative technologies in the field of pediatric ophthalmology.

At the end of the event, the participants noted the importance of preserving the traditions of Russian pediatric ophthalmology, established by such scientists as Evgeny Sidorenko.
