Sergey Lukyanov noted that it is critical for the success of a university to have unique project-drivers that set it apart from others:
“Universities are organizations that have existed for centuries. They have unique advantages: strong scientific schools, interdisciplinary interaction and the ability to form teams under the guidance of charismatic leaders”.
As an example, the rector cited the breakthrough projects of Pirogov University, such as the development of Tribuvia, an innovative drug for the treatment of Behterev's disease, and the creation of gene replacement therapy for rare diseases.
Sergey Lukyanov also spoke about the neurostabilizing peptide, research of which has recently begun at the University.
According to the rector, today the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation is the point of support for launching technological projects, which is especially important in the context of the fickleness of the scientific sphere.
