Preparation of doctors for the treatment of participants in armed conflicts: an important seminar was held at Pirogov University

A scientific and practical seminar was held at Pirogov University on the key issues of training internists to provide comprehensive medical care to participants in armed conflicts.

The event was opened by Grigory Arutyunov, Director of the Institute of Clinical Medicine (ICM), Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases No. 1 ICM. In his speech, he stressed the special importance of high-quality medical support for combat veterans.

The experts immersed the audience in key aspects of medical care. Modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of post—traumatic stress disorder were analyzed in detail. The head of the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology at the Institute of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology made a presentation Andrey Shmilovich. Special attention was paid to psychological support: Vera Nikishina, director of the Institute of Clinical Psychology and Social Work, spoke about the intricacies of working with acute emotional states. Specific bodily injuries, from combat damage to the visual organs to complex cases of somatic pathology, were also not ignored, and a unique practical experience in providing emergency care was presented. 

Following the results of the seminar, all materials will be carefully analyzed and integrated into the educational programs of the disciplines for the training of primary care physicians. The experts also recommended supplementing the curriculum with lectures and workshops devoted to a more detailed study of stress-induced pathology and the features of proactive follow-up.
