Pirogov University: Longevity Technologies Forum

Moscow hosted the forum “Longevity Technologies”, organized by the RGNCC of Pirogov University with the support of the Russian Ministry of Health, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Association of Gerontologists and Geriatricians. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Starodubov noted the priority importance of government attention to gerontology and geriatrics to ensure a full life for the elderly, emphasizing the role of geriatricians and district therapists. The Forum became a platform for leading scientists, doctors, government officials and the international medical community to discuss comprehensive approaches to the problems of aging, develop innovative drugs and consider ways to transform the system of care for the elderly.

The forum discussed key aspects of increasing life expectancy and improving the quality of life. Participants shared knowledge and experience, identified strategies to improve the health and well-being of citizens. Special attention was paid to advanced academic strategies in achieving longevity, fundamental scientific approaches to the study of aging, age-specific reproduction, the role of innate immunity, the concept of active longevity index and the importance of health resort treatment.

The forum included a panel discussion on living with Alzheimer's disease, where the problems of families facing this disease were discussed, and a symposium on arterial hypertension, dizziness and cognitive impairment, which presented an interdisciplinary view of these geriatric problems. An important event was the opening of a school on geriatrics for doctors of all specialties within the framework of the national project “Territory of Longevity”. The school is aimed at improving the qualifications of specialists and expanding the access of elderly people to quality medical care.
