Denis Rebrikov, Vice-Rector for Research, emphasized the special significance of the discussed issues for the development of modern science and medicine. The event was also attended by Andrei Zaretsky – Senior Researcher of the Molecular Technologies Department of the Research Institute of Translational Medicine, who made key presentations on classification of somatic variants, biomarker testing and personalized approach to tumor therapy.
School participants discussed key aspects of NGS-diagnostics in oncology, including hereditary tumor syndromes and methods of detecting mosaicism in adults and children. Special attention was paid to new sequencing technologies and their application in routine practice. Experts discussed a personalized approach to the treatment of rare mutations, mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapy in lung cancer and colorectal cancer, as well as the prospects of using FGFR genes in diagnosis and treatment.
The event emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration for solving complex clinical problems and introducing advanced genomic technologies into Russian medical practice.
