Pirogov University hosted an interdisciplinary scientific and practical seminar on “What is Clinical Thinking?”

The event was organized on the initiative of the staff of the Institute of Clinical Medicine and the Institute of Humanities. The seminar was opened by Grigory Arutyunov, Director of the ICM. In his opinion, “clinical thinking” is an effective way to synthesize disparate information about the patient's condition in order to form a diagnosis and treatment. 

 

Elena Grebenshchikova, Director of IGN, spoke about the philosophical side of the issue. Anna Sokolova, head of the educational part of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine No. 1 of ICM, made a presentation on “Clinical thinking: a clinician's view”.

Clinical thinking is an integral part of the therapeutic and diagnostic process, which includes several stages: observation, evaluation of what has been detected (anamnesis, examination, research results) and inference,” emphasized Igor Nikitin, Head of the Department of Hospital Therapy named after Academician G.I. Storozhakov of ICM.

Mr. Giorgi Nadareishvili, First Vice-Rector – Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, drew attention to the relevance of the seminar, necessary to improve the quality of education of the University students, and supported the continuation of the discussion at subsequent meetings.
