Pirogov University hosted a lecture by foreign specialist Alexander Svidzinski “The Role of Polymicrobial Communities in Medicine”

During the meeting Alexander Svidzinsky, a leading specialist of Charité Hospital, chief physician of the gastroenterology outpatient clinic, head of the molecular genetic laboratory of Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany), spoke about the formation and functioning of polymicrobial communities.

The listeners got acquainted with the method of RiGinaM (ribosomal in situ hybridization), which helps to determine the composition of microflora in the human body, visualize the location of the bacterium and its connections directly in the material. With the help of RiGinaM it is possible to assess in real time the level of inflammation and the effectiveness of the drugs used, timely adjusting the treatment of appendicitis, colitis, tonsillitis, Crohn's disease and other polymicrobial diseases.

At the end of the event, the lecturer answered numerous questions from the audience.
