According to the Minister, the global priority in the field of healthcare should be to ensure the highest standards of safety at all stages of providing medical care to the most vulnerable patients — children from the first minutes of life.
"It is necessary to create a system in which the patient will be provided with safe medical care, regardless of his place of residence and which medical organization he applied to. We consider the formation of a safety culture based on real clinical data and scientific research to be a key point in ensuring patient safety,"Mikhail Murashko emphasized.
Special attention was paid to the development of children's healthcare in Russia. Thanks to the implementation of national projects, the construction of perinatal centers and the modernization of children's hospitals, the country has achieved one of the lowest infant mortality rates in its history.
"This is a unique trend that speaks to the formation of a proper structure in which medical personnel work correctly, observing the rules and technologies of medical care,"Mikhail Murashko summed up.
The Minister elaborated on the key components of safety, such as creating an enabling environment, drug safety, patient identification, and effective communication. He noted that for newborns, identification should be especially careful, as they belong to the most vulnerable group of patients.
"The maturity of a medical organization is a high culture of safety in medical activities based on the principles of transparency, mutual trust and accountability, as well as regular assessment of adverse events and risks, followed by timely implementation of additional measures,"Mikhail Murashko emphasized.
In conclusion, the minister addressed future doctors, noting that people are the main resource of the healthcare system.
"No matter what hospitals we build, no matter what high—tech products and equipment we equip, the most important resource is people, our employees. The involvement of all employees, teamwork, mentoring, and safe behavior are what ensure our success. Only together we are safe," he concluded.
