Traumatology is one of the oldest medical specialties. Even Hippocrates in his works described methods of treatment of fractures, and in Russia there were bone doctors – the predecessors of modern traumatologists. Today, this profession combines surgical skill, innovative technologies and rehabilitation that helps patients recover from serious injuries.

At Pirogov University, future traumatologists are trained at the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Military Field Surgery of the Institute of Surgery. Students master modern methods of diagnosis and treatment, work with high-tech equipment and undergo practical training in the best clinics of the country. Teachers of the department are not only experienced teachers, but also practicing doctors who perform the most complicated operations.
