Clinical thinking: secrets of formation from teachers of Pirogov University

Pirogov University hosted the seminar “Methods of forming clinical thinking in students of medical school”.

The event was opened by Grigory Arutyunov, Director of the Institute of Clinical Medicine and Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine No. 1, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who emphasized the importance of clinical thinking as a key skill for the future doctor.

During the seminar, leading University professors discussed types of clinical thinking, its main properties and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching students, covering a wide range of disciplines – from philosophy and psychology to practical medicine. Participants were able to share their experiences and receive recommendations for improving the quality of training of health care professionals.

Anna Sokolova, Associate Professor of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine No. 1, ICM, Candidate of Medical Sciences, presented the report “Essay as a tool for the development of clinical thinking: a clinician's view”, in which she revealed the essence of the method that helps students develop the skill of analytical and critical analysis of clinical cases. At the end of the meeting there was a lively discussion.
