A healthy heart is the key to longevity!

A celebration dedicated to World Heart Day was held at Pirogov University. The event was supported by the Institute of Clinical Medicine.

The event opened with a series of workshops on the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. Participants had the opportunity to master the technique of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, measure blood pressure and heart rate, take an electrocardiogram, determine their vascular age, assess normal heart tones, identify heart murmurs and the presence of abdominal obesity.

Scientific and practical seminar "Risk factors. Teaching Strategy" was opened by Grigory Arutyunov, Director of the Institute of Clinical Medicine, who emphasized that graduates of medical universities should be able to take into account both old and new risk factors in their work, such as low physical activity, bad habits, poor nutrition, obesity and environmental pollution.

Olga Milushkina, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Pirogov University, noted in her speech that modern medicine is rethinking approaches to the prevention and treatment of diseases, so changes are needed in medical education.

"The curricula of medical universities should be restructured so that future doctors have a deep knowledge of the impact of social, environmental, domestic and professional factors on human health," she stressed.

Nutrition issues related to the emergence of risk factors, as well as the unique practical experience of teaching relevant training programs, have not been ignored.
