A delegation from the Ministry of Health of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea visited the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University by the Ministry of Health of Russia

On April 16, an official meeting took place at the University with the delegation from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea led by the Minister of Health, Jon Mu Rim.

 

Representing the University at the meeting were Rector Sergey Anatolyevich Lukyanov, Doctor of Biological Sciences and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the N.I. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University Nadezhda Alexandrovna Bylova, and Vice-Rector for Research, Doctor of Biological Sciences and Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Denis Vladimirovich Rebrikov.

The reception of the delegation began with welcoming words from Sergey Anatolyevich Lukyanov, who thanked the North Korean colleagues for their interest in the University. He noted that the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University is one of the leading medical universities in Russia. The international cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is of great interest to the University.

Nadezhda Alexandrovna informed the guests about the history of Pirogov University, various opportunities available to international students, training programs, key achievements, as well as the functioning and capabilities of research and clinical centers.

During the bilateral dialogue, the parties discussed the specifics of training at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University and potential collaboration opportunities. Minister of Health Jon Mu Rim expressed his gratitude to his Russian colleagues for the warm welcome, emphasizing the longstanding traditions of cooperation between the countries. He expressed hope for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation and presented gifts from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Sergey Anatolyevich Lukyanov, including a commemorative badge as a symbol of friendship between our nations.

As part of the reception, the DPRK delegation visited the Kogan Preclinical Translational Research Center at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University by the Ministry of Health of Russia. The members of the delegation were impressed by the modernity and high level of technical and technological equipment at the Center. During the tour, guests visited the Department of Experimental Surgery. The head of the department, Doctor of Medical Sciences Mikhail Vladimirovich Anurov, demonstrated surgical simulators used by University residents and practicing doctors to hone their surgical skills.

In the Department of Regenerative Medicine and Single Cell Analysis Competence Center at the High-Precision Editing and Genetic Technologies Center for Biomedicine, guests were briefed on cell technologies currently being developed at our University. Acting head of the Laboratory of Mechanisms of Immunotolerance at the Department of Molecular 

Technologies Ivan Vladimirovich Zvyagin discussed high-throughput sequencing methods, transcriptomic and proteomic analysis, cellular and protein engineering used in laboratory research. The delegation also visited the Laboratory of Additive Technologies, Technical Testing, and Industrial Design at the Engineering Center of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, where specialists explained the tools and methods used in their own developments.
