Timofey has been familiar with blood donation since he studied at the lyceum, where he first started donating blood. Later, driven by a desire to help, he donated platelets twice for a friend with a hematological disease.
"I even had a certificate with notes on donations. Then the antibodies showed up, and I was temporarily suspended from donation," Timofey recalls.
One day, after seeing an advertisement for bone marrow donation in Yandex Browser, he did not hesitate to submit an application on the public services portal.
"I just gave a blood sample, filled out questionnaires and forgot about it. A year later, I received a message on WhatsApp about a match, then they called. I agreed right away. It was obvious to me that if there is a chance to help, we must act," Timofey shares.
The preparation was quiet: several days of stimulation were accompanied by pain, but there were no special difficulties. The donation itself took about five hours.
"Everything was explained in detail, the procedure took place under the supervision of doctors. It's not scary at all, and everything turned out to be easier than I thought. Time flew by quickly," he says.
Timofey doesn't know much about the patient, just his age and weight: "That's enough. If there is an opportunity to meet in two years, of course, it would be interesting."
His family supported his decision, and Timofey himself hopes that his example will encourage others to join the Federal Register.
We thank Timofey for his responsible attitude and important choice! We hope that his story will inspire those who have not yet decided to become a potential donor.
