Strategic session on the development of continuing professional education at Pirogov University

On December 18, 2025, within the framework of the Pirogov University Methodological Schools project, a strategic session was held on designing a program for the development of additional professional education.

The session was moderated by Maria Fomina, Deputy Director of the Institute of Continuing Education and Professional Development.

The participants discussed key challenges and objectives:

  • the need for a significant increase in the number of students in the vocational school, including non-medical audiences;
  • The targets for 2026 are 19,500 trainees, of which at least 6,500 should be trained on an extra—budgetary basis;
  • new regulatory conditions include restrictions on the use of remote technologies for medical and pharmaceutical educational programs from March 1, 2026.

During the interactive group work, the session participants formulated project hypotheses and based on them identified strategic directions for the development of vocational education at the University. Specific actions were outlined in each area for the next two months, responsible persons were appointed and success criteria were determined.
