Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Faculty of General Medicine

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology  is dedicated to training students who master the six-year program "General Medicine", as well as residency students in the specialty "Obstetrics and Gynecology" to become leaders of national and international women's health. The department also studies PhD students dealing with various research problems of women's health.  The main directions of research and practical work of the department are:

  • Miscarriage of various origins: pathology of the hemostasis system - genetic and acquired thrombophilia, antiphospholipid syndrome, persistence of viral-bacterial infection, hormonal aspects of miscarriage: hyperandrogeny, thyroid gland pathology, various forms of luteal phase deficiency;

  • Preparation for pregnancy with various extragenital pathology, with miscarriage of pregnancy;

  • Treatment of pregnancy pathology of various terms;

  • Modern approaches to the treatment of cervical insufficiency, hormonal disorders, the threat of premature birth;

  • Modern approaches to the treatment of placental insufficiency, fetal hypoxia, gestosis;

  • Maintaining and counseling pregnant women with chronic diseases of the endocrine, nervous, cardiovascular systems;

  • Management and counseling of pregnant women with epilepsy, diabetes mellitus, pathology of the liver, thyroid gland, vein diseases (including varicose veins of the lower extremities) and pathology of the hemostasis system;

  • Maintaining and giving birth to pregnant women after uterine artery embolization;

  • Conducting pregnancy and childbirth in pregnant risk groups; thrombophilia,

  • Hyperhomocysteinemia in pregnant women;

  • Modern technologies in the treatment of preeclampsia, hypertension, hypoxia, cholestasis in pregnant women;

  • modern clinical pharmacology during pregnancy and childbirth;

  • Uterine artery embolization;

  • Endometrial hyperplastic processes;

  • Uterine fibroids;

  • Minimally invasive gynecological procedures.

The subdivisions of the academic department of obstetrics and gynecology are located in leading Moscow clinics, including the First City Hospital, the Maternity Hospital No. 1, the Maternity Hospital No. 10, etc.
