Department of disaster medicine of the Pirogov Russian State Medical University realizes training and preparing students to work in emergency situations of peace and war. During 15 years the staff of the Department successfully passed the way of formation, prepared more than 12 thousand graduates of our University curriculum of emergency medicine and the Department became one of the leading specialized departments of medical universities of the Russia.
Students of various faculties and residents study the following disciplines at the Department: "Life Safety. Disaster Medicine", "Emergency Medicine", "Medical Familiarization Practice" and "Educational Clinical Practice".
The Department successfully solves the problems of organizing the educational process, where modern computer technologies are widely used. In accordance with the new Federal state educational standards, the staff of the Department developed an electronic course of lectures and practical classes on the discipline "Life Safety. Disaster medicine.”
Over the past five years the staff of the Department has prepared and published the textbooks and manuals designed for medical students studying in English, as well as for studying in the Russian-language groups foreign students.
The textbook "Military hygiene. Hygiene of emergency situations " for medical students took first place in the competition of textbooks held in RNIMU. N. I. Pirogov in 2015. The textbooks “First Aid” and "life Safety" in English in 2017 and 2018-the first and second places.
Educational and methodical materials and modern methods of organization and provision of educational process developed at the Department are actively used in many medical universities of the country.
Since 2013, the Department organizes and conducts annual all-Russian Olympiads of students and young scientists in disaster medicine. In 2015 and 2017, Scientific and practical conferences "Topical issues of teaching disaster medicine" were held for the teaching staff of the departments of disaster medicine and from 2015 biennale All-Russian Scientific conference Disaster Medicine: education, science and practice.
The Department has a student scientific group. Since 2017, the student scientific group of the Department was recognized as the winner of the SNO of the University Members of the scientific circle take an active part in the annual Pirogov student conference and other events in Russia and abroad.
In addition to solving the above tasks, the staff of the Department takes an active part in educational and Patriotic work among students, in conducting professional orientation work among schoolchildren under the program "University Saturdays". They give lectures and conduct practical classes on first aid with students of medical classes.
The Department of disaster medicine maintains close contacts with many teams of specialized departments of medical universities, as well as with the all-Russian center of disaster medicine "Protection" of the Ministry of health of Russia and with the territorial centers of disaster medicine. We understand that participation in various events, exercises and conferences on disaster medicine, exchange of views and experience on the organization of the educational process, improvement of pedagogical skills and professional level of teachers are the most important criteria for the further development of the Department staff, ensuring a high level of educational process and quality training of graduates of medical University in disaster medicine.
